Spending by foreign tourists in Italy grows by 17% in 2023. Increase in tourism revenue is due largely to the growth in arrivals, particularly from outside the EU.

Italy's balance of payments in tourism recorded a surplus of 20.2 billion euro, up from 18.2billion euro in 2022.Holiday trips accounted for 62% of total spending by foreigntourists in Italy, the Bank of Italysaid said on Tuesday. As a percentage of GDP, the surplus rose to 1%, the same as in 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic.
