Two cross-country skiers died in an avalanche near the Klosters resort in southeastern Switzerland on Friday. 12 people had lost their lives in avalanches in Switzerland since October 1, 2023.

In total, 142 avalanche-related accidents occurred and 188 people were swept away. Earlier this month, six skiers disappeared in a storm near the luxury resort of Zermatt in the south of the country. The group of skiers, aged 21 to 58, included five members of the same family.
