Electricity consumption increased by 2.1% last January in Italy compared to 2023 values. In January the electricity requirement was equal to 26.7 billion kWh.
There were signs of growth in industrial consumption with energy-intensive companies showing a +3.5% increase. 687 additional MW entered into operation in January 2024, a value 389 MW higher (+131%) compared to the same period of the previous year. Renewable sources covered 33.7% of electricity demand (it was 27.7%) in January 2023.
