The Bobigny public prosecutor's office, which had requested a three-year suspended prison sentence for the former councilor, then appealed. Two other defendants, Sébastien M., the general director of SAEM, and Jocelyn D., a consultant working for the social landlord, were also targeted. Several civil parties also appealed this acquittal on civil interests.
