The Constitutional Council of Senegal maintains the list of presidential candidates. President Macky Sall and the National Assembly announced at the last minute the postponement of the election before being retried.
The sequence of events triggered a new and heated dispute over the holding of the presidential election before or after April 2, the date of the official expiration of President Sall's mandate. But the dispute also concerns a restart from scratch, or not, of the process which saw the Constitutional Council approve 20 candidacies in January.
