Only 1,946 new doctors were recognized in Israel in 2022, compared to 2,025 the year before. The number of doctors per thousand people remains low compared to the rest of the world - and stands at 3.4 in Israel compared to 3.7 in the OECD.
The Ministry of Health is working to increase the number of specialist doctors in all fields and geographic areas, by funding interns in the community in the health funds. The rate of employed brothers and sisters stands at 5.3 per 1,000 residents on average for the next five years.
