The boat sank due to extreme weather conditions and an unusual storm that broke out in the area. The Israeli consul in Rome together with the Department for Israelis Abroad in the Foreign Ministry are working to bring the coffin of the deceased to Israel.
The Italian newspaper, La Stampa, reported that one of the dead was a 53-year-old foreign man. According to the newspaper, a group of foreign tourists and Italian citizens were having a birthday party on the boat when a sudden storm surprised them in the middle of the lake.
