The Knesset approved the temporary order raising the age of exemption from reserve service by one year. The temporary order was passed on second and third reading and was extended by four months with the support of 44 MKs.
A veteran who is not an officer will be granted the exemption at age 41 instead of age 40. The exemption age will be raised to 50 instead of 49 for veterans who serve in certain professions or positions established by the decree of the Minister of Defense. "In the law that is laid down here, the word all is missing," says MK Yair Lapid.
