[HIGHLIGHTS] The milestone of 5 billion users on social networks reached, according to a study

The number of active users on social networks has crossed the threshold of five billion people in 2023. Their number thus increased by 5.6% in one year, when the world population experienced growth of 0.9%.

For comparison, 5.35 billion people have an internet connection. The leading social network in terms of users, Instagram has a total of 1.65 billion users, followed by TikTok (1.56 billion). The report, however, recognizes a certain imprecision due in particular to automated accounts or people registered under different identities.
