Natan Meler, the owner of the villa where the sinkhole opened in the pool that resulted in the death of Khalil Kimchi, was charged today (Sunday) with causing death by negligence. The disaster occurred about a year and a half ago.
Meler built the pool without building permits, while encroaching on nearby land. He did not take into account the risks involved in building a pool on top of the type of soil in the area, which created cavities and caves.
