The Security Council will vote on a ceasefire and the release of the abductees. If the resolution passes, it will be the first time since the beginning of the war that the Security Council adopts a call for a ceasefire.

Senior Israeli officials said that at this stage the US is not expected to veto the proposed resolution because it ties a ceasefire to the release. Russia is also not expectedto veto the resolution as it does not directly condemn Hamas for the October 7 attack. The vote is expected to take place at 4:00 p.m. Israel time.
