Thering was re-elected CDU state chairman. He is leading his party into the upcoming district, European and national elections this summer and early next year.
Thering took over the leadership of the Hamburg CDU from Bundestag member Christoph Ploß in April last year. The previous deputy chairmen Anke Frieling, Philipp Heißner, Natalie Hochheim and Christoph de Vries as well as treasurer Roland Heintze were also up for election on Saturday.
