Ivette Diaz, 49, was arrested Friday on charges of poisoning food or water. The alleged incident occurred on February 20 when the couple, who have been living together for three years, were at their home on Southwest 158th Place.
The boyfriend was taken to Homestead Hospital for treatment. “I thought it was sugar,” was the woman's response, according to the police report. The report noted that the sugar was powdered and kept in an upper kitchen cabinet, while the pills were under the sink.
