The Asian tiger mosquito is an aggressive mosquito and is on the rise in Germany. This is dangerous because it can transmit trophic diseases.

The tiger mosquito got its name from its striped pattern in black and white. It bites mosquitoes during the day, while the native mosquitoes are mainly active at night. It is considered a potential vector of more than 20 viruses, including the following: West Nile virus, Dengue virus, Chikungunya virus and Zika virus. The risk of infection from a tiger mosquito bite is still low in Munich.
