Four out of six tires had a flat tire. The driver had simply lashed the plastic bags containing the environmentally hazardous solid chromium6, which came from a demolished factory, with straps. On top of that, the packaging was so wet due to heavy rain in Italy that even small amounts of water with the dangerous goods dissolved in it escaped and contaminated the trailer.
