Since the start of the year, 12 people have been killed on the department's roads. In the Alpes-Maritimes in 2023, the prefecture recalls that 54 people lost their lives in connection with traffic accidents and 355 were seriously injured. Prefect Hugues Moutouh asked the police to “show great firmness against road offenders” and particularly targets those who are intoxicated or excessively speeding.
