In January, Italian oil consumption overall increased by 4.1% (+179,000 tonnes) compared to the same month of 2023. Total sales of petroleum products in January gained 8.1%.
Air transport appears to have recovered pre-Covid levels. On average petrol in January was equal to 1.777 euros per litre, approximately 5 cents less than in January 2023, while diesel was 1.734, 14 cents less. At an industrial price level (net of taxes), on average petrol and diesel were 3.5 cents lower than the euro area average.
