Nurses at a maternity ward rushed to gather together cribs in which newborn babies were sleeping. Taiwan had not experienced such a strong earthquake in 25 years.

At least ten people were killed and 1,099 injured. Rescuers continue to search for residents trapped under the rubble. The 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan on April 3, 2024, killing at least 10 people and injuring more than 1,000. The death toll is expected to rise as rescuers continue to look for trapped residents.
