Residents of the capital spoke out this Sunday in favor of a new measure aimed at tripling the parking rate for “heavy, polluting and bulky’ vehicles. However, the implementation of this new measure is not imminent.
Parisian elected officials must first debate it next May during the Paris Council. If the rate increase is adopted, it will still take several months for the City to implement it. The citizen vote on SUVs divides Parisians at the exit of the polls. Aiming only at “visitor” vehicles, the surcharge will not concern Parisians who benefit from a resident rate.
