The entire area is designated as a landscape protection area, parts of it are designated as protected forest, as are the surrounding forests that are not directly affected. The increasingly important cold air channels for the Munich metropolitan region and the urgent need for action to limit the amount of new sealing (especially outdoors) make this project appear extremely questionable.
