Nathan Bonza is the 11th commissioner to retire from the police force since the formation of the government. Bonza headed the 'Seef' division for fighting crime in Arab society.

Since the beginning of the year, 92 people from the sector have been murdered. The resignation announcement comes a day after National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and the police commissioner announced their intention to appoint a project to deal with crime in the Arab sector. The round of appointments is stuck following a disagreement over the identity of Mamz Tel Aviv's replacement.
