Werder confirms: Clemens Fritz will be managing director of football. Fritz is currently the head of professional football at Bremen.
The 48-year-old Baumann announced in November that he would be stepping down from his position at the end of the season. Both Baumann and Fritz were captains of the professional team for many years. Baumann remains connected to the club. In January it became known that, together with a regional alliance of entrepreneurs, he was taking over shares in the club's spun-off corporation.
