Erling-Andechs local fire department was founded 150 years ago at the behest of a decree from 1869. The fire brigade was officially confirmed in 1874 when, according to the chronicle, “Fire brigade captain Jakob Vogler and first board member Georg Sedlmeir as well as 49 respectable citizens” founded the association.
At that time, Erling had a larger population than Herrsching. The comrades were on the move with, among other things, a “wooden extension ladder” mounted on a cart.
