The 2024 theme highlights how technology and innovation can drive nature conservation, sustainable and legal trade in wildlife and coexistence between wildlife and humans. The Day is celebrated "to raise awareness of the fundamental role that biodiversity plays in maintaining a healthy environment in which we live", explains the UN.
