Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Eli Cohen, announced today (Tuesday) the decision to cease electricity production at the Reading power plant. This is a two-part outline for achieving energy security in Gush Dan based on energy storage instead of the existing gas turbines at the station.

The decision is expected to reduce air pollution and bring many benefits to the electricity sector and the environment. The Ministry of Environmental Protection welcomed the decision and said that it is another step on the way to a zero-emissions economy by 2050.
