Holzkirchen has pursued the goal of making the old cemetery look like a park. It could start in March – provided the community receives the hoped-for Leader funding.
The idea is to use the ever-increasing vacant grave space (there are currently around 230 vacant grave sites) on the 1.5 hectare area to create an inner-city green oasis. New graves will only be placed in a designated area, so that the remaining part will be transformed into a publicly usable park without graves by 2035.
