The tennis player's father, Sergey Savalenko, was himself an ice hockey player and he passed away suddenly in 2019, at the age of 44. Savalanka started posting photos of herself together with the former hockey player who was 17 years older than her. Some of the reactions on social networks were venomous, calling her a "breakup of families"
