A fan died in a traffic accident while traveling to the away game in Mönchengladbach. Some fans called for the game to be canceled after the deaths. The supporters of the five-time German champions refrained from the usual chants; the mood was sometimes depressing. Xavi Simons and Lois Openda scored the goals.
