Qatar Islamic Bank president Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani has reportedly increased his initial takeover offer. Jim Ratcliffe seemed to be the best placed in a third round of bidding at the end of April since his offer allowed co-presidents Avram and Joel Glazer to remain involved in the management of Manchester United.

The Glazer brothers hope to make seven billion from the sale, and had hinted that they might ultimately not pull out if bids don't hit that mark.
