Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle sets new world record in 100m freestyle. The 19-year-old broke the record in 46 sec 80 during the World Swimming Championships in Doha.

Previous record was held by Romanian David Popovici during the European Championships in Rome in the summer of 2022. The mark was set during the 4x100m freeestyle relay won by China. The event took place at the Doha International Aquatics Centre in Qatar. The world record was set by the Romanian in the same event in 2022.
