Bosch invests in hydrogen combustion engine: Production still in 2024. Compared to the fuel cell, the combustion engine has a major advantage: it converts the hydrogen directly into propulsion without having to first convert it into electricity.

The H2 engine also saves weight. Unlike diesel and gasoline, hydrogen attacks lubricating oils and destroys the carbon macromolecules. It therefore has no lubricating properties. Bosch claims to have solved these problems. Hyundai also wants to bring a hydrogen engine in 2025. And Yamaha is also working on a V8 engine.
