Le Parisien exclusively draws up the ranking of the safest cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants in mainland France. The crimes were grouped into four main families: assaults, thefts, burglaries and nuisances which poison daily life, such as drug trafficking or deliberate destruction and damage.

Based on around ten criteria and the delinquency figures recorded by the Ministry of the Interior, Le Parisien gives a good rating to the cities most spared by these facts. The cities with the lowest crime rates are those with the highest crime rates.
