A man in his forties was taken into custody for intentional homicide of a spouse in Cagnes-sur-Mer, near Nice in the Alpes-Maritimes. The victim, aged 43, found lifeless Monday morning by firefighters, showed signs of blows.
In 2014, he was convicted by a court in another jurisdiction for acts of domestic violence against a previous partner. On average, a feminicide occurs every three days in France. The Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti put forward at the beginning of January the figure of 94 femicides in 2023.
