A student at a high school in Washington, DC was slightly injured after a cell phone exploded. The fire and rescue barges said that the student was only slightly injured.

Investigators estimate that the blaze was caused by a fault in the phone's lithium-ion battery. The department published tips on the social network X (Twitter) to prevent similar cases, including: using covers that do not trap heat, keeping the phone away from direct sunlight, using approved chargers and avoiding tight pockets, especially while running resource-intensive applications.
