Proposal proposes minimum validity period of 15 years for driving licenses for motorcycles and cars and five years for trucks and buses. MEPs are not in favor of reducing the validity of licenses for the elderly, as proposed by the Commission, to avoid discrimination. The draft regulation, approved with 339 votes in favor, 240 against and 37 abstentions, aims to guarantee safer roads.
