A Belgian national on vacation in Fréjus in the Var was arrested and taken into police custody after his wife was found dead. Traces of blood were found on a duvet and sheets in the apartment.
An argument had taken place on Monday evening, according to a police source. At least six femicides have already occurred in theVar department since the start of the year. On average, a feminicide occurs every three days in France. The Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti recently put forward the figure of 94 femicides in 2023, compared to 118 in 2022.
