Apple announced tonight that iPhone 15 models are able to maintain 80% of their original battery capacity after 1,000 charging cycles. According to Apple, the improvement was achieved without changes to hardware or software.

For older iPhones (released before 2023), the original estimate of retaining 80% batterycapacity after 500 charges is still valid - at least for now. This significant improvement in battery life may help Apple comply with the new European Union consumption regulations that will come into effect in April 2024. These regulations will require manufacturers to rate the batteries of their devices according to their energy consumption.
