An 80-year-old man died on a beach in Saint-Martin-de-Ré, on the Île de Ré (Charente-Maritime) after being caught by the tide. The man was taken care of by the firefighters, while fortunately, the firefighters' Dragon 17 helicopter was flying over the area during the high tides.

The department of Charentes is finally on orange flood alert, just like neighboring Gironde, until Tuesday midnight. The circumstances of this tragedy have not yet been formally determined by the emergency services.
