Huge recall from BMW: 250,000 “Youngtimers” have to go to the workshop because of airbag problems. Vehicles from the 1 Series, 3 Series and X3 series that were produced between 2004 and 2005 are being recalled.
The reason for the recall is a possible fault in the gas generator of the driver's airbag. If the airbag is triggered, it can deploy uncontrollably, which can release metal fragments that could injure the occupants. No known incidents involving property damage or personal injury.
