Accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on the A47, in the direction of Saint-Étienne Givors, around thirty kilometers from Lyon.
It appears that one of the two vehicles involved in the fatal collision was stationary at the time of the tragedy, according to firefighters. Traffic was completely cut off during the intervention which mobilized eight emergency vehicles and 23 firefighters. The ages of the victims were not specified. The injured young woman was taken to hospital with a life-threatening condition.
