Four young girls died and a fifth injured with a life-threatening prognosis, Saturday after an accident involving two vehicles on the A47 near Dargoire (Loire), we learned from the firefighters.
The accident occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on the A47, in the direction of Saint-Étienne Givors, around thirty kilometers from Lyon.
“In the first vehicle carrying five young girls, four died and a fifth was in serious danger and was transported to the Lyon Sud hospital,” said the Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the Loire, specifying that the five occupants had to be extricated and confirming information from the local newspaper Le Pays.
The ages of the victims were not specified.
“In the second vehicle which transported a family, the father, driver, and the four children were unharmed, the mother was slightly injured and also transported to the Lyon Sud hospital,” Sdis also specified.
It appears that one of the two vehicles involved in the fatal collision was stationary at the time of the tragedy, according to firefighters.
Traffic was completely cut off during the intervention which mobilized eight emergency vehicles and 23 firefighters.
