A deputy mayor of Beaurepaire (Seine-Maritime) was violently attacked on Friday by one of his constituents. The attacker had been ordered to move his car, parked for too long in a public parking lot belonging to the Le Havre Seine Métropole Urban Community.

The attack comes as the National Assembly is considering a series of measures from Tuesday to better protect local elected officials, who are increasingly faced with violence. The elected officials of BeAurePaire “firmly condemn these acts in our peaceful commune” and invite a “Republican gathering of support” on Saturday February 10, 2024.
