Seine-Maritime: an elected official receives a headbutt for a parking space

A deputy mayor of Beaurepaire (Seine-Maritime) was violently attacked on Friday by one of his constituents, we learned from the town hall on Tuesday.

According to a press release published Tuesday on the Facebook page of the town hall of this rural commune of less than 500 inhabitants, located 25 km north of Le Havre, the elected official “was violently attacked in front of his home by an official of the commune” on Friday February 2.

According to this text, the attacker had been ordered to move his car, parked for too long in a public parking lot belonging to the Le Havre Seine Métropole Urban Community.

However, according to article R417-12 of the Highway Code, the parking of a vehicle becomes “abusive if its duration exceeds seven days, or exceeds that fixed by decree”.

“A big impulse”

The mayor of the town, Carol Gondouin, had written a note to the owner of the vehicle asking him to move it.

“The vehicle had been there for several months,” the latter explained to France Bleu Normandie, “and it was not a fine, just a word.

The press release posted online speaks of a “very violent attack” which “deeply shocked the elected official” of 70 years, his injuries leading to 8 days of ITT.

A complaint filed

“It is his function as deputy mayor, as an elected official, which is clearly targeted”, we can still read, “this blatant aggression is intolerable and leaves the entire municipal team stunned”.

“A complaint was filed by the elected official,” declared the town hall services, confirming information from the local newspaper Le Courrier Cauchois.
