The owner of a restaurant sentenced after the death of a customer allergic to peanuts in Vendée. Anna, a 21-year-old student, died of anaphylactic shock after eating a spring roll containing peanuts.

The roll in question contained peanuts, but the restaurant had not reported this. “Anna must not have died for nothing. Restaurateurs must realize that allergies kill,” testified the victim’s father-in-law, in Ouest-France. The restaurant was also found guilty of manslaughter and was fined 20,000 euros.
