Toyota restarts production on March 4 after Daihatsu scandal. Last December the world's largest automaker closed six production lines at four factories in Japan, halting shipments of vehicles such as the LandCruiser 300 and Hiace.

It partially resumed production on February 13, but lines at two factories in Mie and Gifu prefectures remained suspended. Toyota said global vehicle production rose 7 percent in January, marking a year-over-year increase for the 13th consecutive month, driven by demand in North America.
