Next Monday, Toyota will restart the production lines suspended in central Japan following the scandal involving tampering with safety tests involving its subsidiary Daihatsu.
The decision comes after the green light from the Ministry of Transport - which had previously lifted the ban on shipping the engines produced, causing the interruption of operations on the domestic market and abroad.
Toyota said on Tuesday that the restart will bring its domestic plants back to full production capacity.
Last December the world's largest automaker closed six production lines at four factories in Japan, halting shipments of vehicles such as the LandCruiser 300 and Hiace.
It partially resumed production on February 13, but lines at two factories in Mie and Gifu prefectures remained suspended.
Officials at Japan's Transport Ministry lifted the ban on Tuesday after confirming that the engines meet certification standards.
Separately, Toyota said global vehicle production rose 7 percent in January, marking a year-over-year increase for the 13th consecutive month, driven by demand in North America.
Output in the first month of 2024 rose to 740,330 vehicles, while global sales increased by approximately 11% compared to the reference period of the previous year, thanks to growth in foreign markets that offset the decline in turnover in Japan.
Both figures include the luxury Lexus brand.
