The state is preparing to start collecting a travel tax from an electric vehicle. The tax will increase the more the car travels, just as gasoline and diesel vehicles pay more tax the more fuel they consume.
The payment will actually be collected in advance every two months, while at the end of each year the state will settle accounts with the driver. The Tax Authority will employ inspectors who will be allowed to operate in licensing institutes, with the authority to seize vehicles in case of suspicion of a crime. Two new criminal offenses will be established, one year in prison for those who did not report correctly.
