EU Parliament has passed the Euro 7 pollutant standard. New are emission regulations for brakes and tires – and specifications for electric car batteries.

The new regulations could initially come into force for cars and light commercial vehicles from mid-2026. The European Council still has to formally agree on the new regulations. The planned limit values for air pollutants for cars remain at the Euro 6 level. However, smaller fine dust particles will also be measured and included in the limits in the future. The originally proposed tightening of the test conditions is off the table.
