Construction workers have come across a bomb from the Second World War in the north of Nuremberg. The bomb is safe, for the population there is no danger, it said on the info page of the city.
At present the procedure for the defusing is examined, said a spokeswoman. The evacuation is said to affect around 9,000 residents. Initially, an evacuation in a radius of about 1000 meters was considered. How long the process should take is so far open. It should be a 450-pound bomb with about 225 kilograms of explosives.
The find could affect the traffic at Nuremberg Airport, the airport said. "If it is clear when the bomb will be defused, then it could be that during this period, no takeoffs and landings can take place," said a spokesman.
