(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, FEBRUARY 21 - A 58-year-old multiple murderer, Nicholas Sutton, was executed in Tennessee yesterday despite his lawyers asking the Supreme Court for a stay of execution.
In 1985, while serving a life sentence for killing his grandmother in 1979 - when she was 18 - Sutton stabbed another prisoner to death. The man also confessed to the police that he killed two other people.
His lawyers had asked for a suspension of the execution for good conduct.
This is the fourth execution in the US since the beginning of the year. The man chose the electric chair instead of the lethal injection.
